TV personality Sherri Shepherd spoke about her eight month weight loss journey in a new Tuesday Instagram post.
The former View host, 54, showed off her 50 pound weight loss as she modeled a figure-hugging tie dye dress and credited finding ‘peace,’ with helping her shed extra weight.
Sherri had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in 2007 which she later said ‘changed her life,’ but only began taking her health more seriously in 2018, years after enduring two very messy custody battles over her two kids.

Self-improvement: The trio of snaps of her in a tie dye dress were accompanied by a lengthy caption where she spoke about finding ‘peace,’ cutting toxic people out of her life, and learning to accept herself with help from therapy and meditation
Sherri looked incredible as she showed off her petite figure in a form fitting blue and yellow tie-dye dress which she paired with bright orange pumps.
She posed in her home office and shared a trio of snaps of her working her angles with an infectious smile plastered on her face.
‘Started this weight loss journey 8 mos ago, but making other changes in my life helped me lose even more lbs…,’ she began, before detailing some self-improvement tricks like cutting negativity out of her life.
‘getting consistent sleep, meditation, finding a great therapist to help me unpack hurt…forgiving those who’ve done me harm… more acceptance… less religion & more relationship… discovering that God loves me no matter what (yeah I am freaky and I curse)…’
Smiling big: Her snaps were full of color as she posed on a green armoire while accessorizing her bright outfit with orange heels
Making a change: The former View host had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007 but only began taking her weight more seriously in 2007
‘…more water, more walking… being thankful, finding my worth… saying no… had to say goodbye to some friends who weren’t good for me. Peace makes the weight fall off,’ she said, before posing the question: ‘What are you doing to find your peace?’
Since starting her health journey in 2018 she has amassed a weight loss of nearly 55 pounds.
During lockdown she had set a goal to lose 15 pounds, but by April she had already beat that goal by 5lbs — revealing that she weighed less than 150 pounds.
The Emmy-winner had also spoken about being accountable to her son Jeffrey, 16, — who has special needs — as she wrote that she wants to be ‘healthy and whole’ for him.
In one interview she revealed that he asked her: ‘Mommy, if you die, who’s gonna be my bodyguard?’ as she was eating a candy bar. ‘Who’s gonna take care of me if you die?,’ she recalled him saying which prompted her to double down on her health.

Sherri has had to deal with not one but two custody battles when it comes to her kids, with both ex husband Jeff Tarpley and second husband Lamar Sally.
She welcomed Jeffrey with her Tarpley during the course of their decade long marriage but they split in 2011.
He alleged in April 2014 court documents, that their son suffered from ‘neglect,’ and tried for temporary physical custody of him, also asking that she get ‘no visitation until the court rules on this issue at the hearing.’
The judge found no need for an emergency order and scheduled a hearing for July 21, at which time she was granted custody privileges to her.

And in the midst of that she was also going to bat with ex Lamar Sally. They were married in 2011 and split in 2014 before they welcomed a son together via surrogate.
But because their son was born with a donor egg and Lamar’s sperm, Tally was granted full custody, but because her name was on Lamar Jr.’s birth certificate — which at one point she had petitioned to remove — she was forced to pay child support.
Sadly Sherri has no relationship with Lamar Jr. beyond finances though she said in a 2017 interview with Dr. Oz that he will ‘always be taken care of.’
‘He never has to worry about anything as long as I’m working,’ Shepherd said. ‘He’s on my health insurance. He’s got a life insurance policy in case anything happens to me. He’ll be taken care of the way Jeffrey is. I’ve just chosen to take myself out because I think it’s worse for a child with two parents not getting along.’
